You Were Built for More: Escape the Trap of ‘Good Enough’

What if the ache isn’t ingratitude… but a calling?

Dear Reader

You don’t need a crisis to outgrow your current season.

Sometimes, everything looks fine from the outside: a steady job, a happy family, the life you once prayed for. And still, something inside whispers: You were built for more.

I know that tension. Gratitude pulling one way, growth pulling the other.

Not long ago, I found myself in that place too. Life was stable. Predictable. Even successful by most standards. But the dreams I once held started to feel uncomfortable to revisit. I started shrinking them to fit my current circumstances, instead of expanding my mindset to fit the future I was called to build.

That slow shrinking happens quietly. Not because we’re lazy. But because we’re afraid.

Afraid of wanting more. Afraid of disrupting what we’ve built. Afraid of failing publicly. And maybe, if we’re honest, afraid of what it would mean to truly become all we’re capable of.

Here’s what I learned:

Dreaming again isn’t reckless. It’s responsible.

If something in you feels restless, uncomfortable, or quietly dissatisfied, it’s not a flaw. It might be the invitation to dream again. To ask not just what you can tolerate, but what you’re here to transform.

This week’s reflection comes with four shifts that helped me reclaim the power of vision. You can watch it here →

But even if you don’t, here’s the takeaway:

Start dreaming based on the size of your calling, not the size of your current circumstances.

Limitations are not prophecies. They are starting points.

Reflection Prompt: What dream have you quietly folded away because it felt too bold for your current life?

What would it look like to give it room again?

Thanks for reading.

Each week, I share honest stories and strategies for purpose-driven growth, without the noise.

You haven't lost yourself. You're becoming someone new. Dear Reader, Have you ever found yourself sitting quietly in a meeting, heart beating slightly faster, glancing around the room and silently wondering: “How did I end up here?” Not because you don’t belong, but because after spending years mastering your craft, you’ve suddenly become a beginner again. I remember vividly the first team call after my mid-career pivot from a decade of reservoir engineering into commercial analytics. As...

You can feel it when something’s quietly outgrowing you. Dear Reader, There’s a moment in every big transition that no one else can see. Not panic. Not drama. Just that quiet shift, when your current path starts to feel too small. I remember mine clearly. It was after a call with my manager during a company reorg. I was offered a stable, technical leadership role back in Aberdeen. A role I could do well, with my eyes closed. But something in me said no. Maybe you’ve felt it too. That low hum...

A man receiving a call with two bags.

It was just another quiet morning until my phone shattered the silence. Dear Reader, I sat frozen at my desk, notifications flooding in. Videos of missiles illuminated the skies—right above the home I’d built for my family. Suddenly, the day’s meetings, spreadsheets, and emails lost all meaning. My entire life narrowed instantly to survival, and then immediately, to the faces of those I was entrusted to protect. Maybe you’ve felt this quiet urgency before—not missiles overhead, or having to...
